my character...

the lighting i want to approach is very calm and full of energy. i want to try to imitate all moods with the light. but i guess the lighting that mainly wanted to portray is confidence and not being confident.

to answer "T's" comment, the world is not really dark and gloomy but has a strong contrast of shadows and light.

I like your examples. I would think that confidence would be shown with a brighter lighting style while not being confident would be lower lit.

I have no idea what mood you are trying to show in the pictures that you have posted on your blog. What kind of lighting techniques would you use to show the mood of this character. I think it is an interesting problem for yourself. How do you show a character that is calm, joyful, serious and full of energy?

I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SHOW? DO YOU MEAN LIKE HOW THE SUBJECT IS IN REALITY VERSUS HOW HE IS IN HIS OWN MIND?

I think that your lighting would probably, fill the character's entire face so that their are no shadows. I see confidence as something different from dark. As if a idea is on top of your head or something. I think you need more clarity with this idea though.
