1. key is the main light and strongest lights. can be placed where its seen fit to be but by th book, on one side of the camera typically at a 30degree angle.
fill is opposite of the key light and is secondary, more of a flood. placed further away for some spun.
backlight is placed behind the subject btw.
30 and 45degrees (vertically) for definition and subtle light. not direct. gives a 3 dimensional look. also know as the rim or hair light.
2. you can use those reflectors. if i remember correctly, typically that foam board. you would want to simulate a fill light to soften up the extremes between the strong light from the sun (key light) and the shadows.
